The Sodium Potassium Pump and the role that it plays in the health of the body.
Every cell in the body has a sodium-potassium pump. This information alone is almost impossible to absorb. The human body contains two hundred and ten different cell types, that are found only in humans.

Along with that there is the fact that there are over one hundred trillion cells in the body at any given time. Each cell has a sodium potassium pump, this pump operates on an automatic mechanism of active movement that move the ions of potassium into the  plasma membrane of a cell and the ions of sodium out of the plasma membrane of a cell.

This cell membrane is the substance that separates the interior of the cell from the environment outside of the
cell. This membrane surrounds all of the cells and can be penetrated by the chemical reactions that control the entrance and exit of substances to and from the cells.

This action of exchange includes that of the sodium potassium pump of each cell. This action produces an ion conductive movement that produces electricity. Which in turn turned into power.

The Sodium Potassium Pump of each cell is based on a concentration of enzymes that will function by allowing the correct amount of sodium and potassium ions by the removal of excess ions from the inside of a cell and allowing them to be replaced
with the ions from outside of the cell.

Sodium is moved from the inside of the cell where it has a lower concentration rate in the fluid of the cell where the concentration of the sodium is found in higher quantities.  Potassium is moved in the opposite direction.  As with any pump, The Sodium Potassium Pump requires energy. This is obtained in the following manner.


Sodium is normally moved from the inside of the cell, where its concentration is low, to the extracellular fluid, where its concentration is much higher. Potassium is moved in the opposite direction.

Energy for the pump is obtained from the reaction of the ATP hydrolysis. This is a chemical energy that has  been moved and stored by  the high energy bonds of the ATP. or the Adenosine triphosphate that is released.

An example of this found in the muscles so that they may produce movement. This is also the link between  the energy that is obtained from food, or sunlight.
